Sharkfest is an annual benefit concert raising funds for our community project. This is our DIY grassroots program in which we distribute supplies and food to the unhoused. What we have dubbed 'Sock Runs' is when we go out on foot with backpacks full of supplies, looking for anyone who could use them. We also have 'Punks w/ Grub,' which is a stationary event where we serve meals as well as have supplies readily available. This gives us an opportunity to connect in an informal social setting.
We often spend our own money to refill supplies. All of the money we make at Sharkfest is spent only on mutual aid; none goes into anyone's pockets.
Sharkfest is held each year, and although it's funding hasn’t always met our needs, it continues to be the main source of resources that keeps our community project stocked. That hasn't and won't stop us. We will always value people over profits. We will stand with those marginalized and dehumanized by a callous system.
